Vishwesh nominated for Food & Wine The People’s Best New Chef

Last year, Food & Wine magazine added The People’s Best New Chef award, allowing readers to pick one of the winners, dubbing him or her The People’s Best New Chef.  The winner, selected by the dining public and online voting, will be featured in the magazine alongside the winners of this year’s Best New Chef awards.  Vishwesh is among 100 pre-selected chefs, from 10 regions (the chef needs to have run their own kitchens for five years or fewer), and he is included in the Gulf Coast region.

Voting will run from March 5th through March 11, and the chef with the most votes in each region will then be named a finalist, and People’s Best New Chef!

Please show your support for Vishwesh by voting TODAY! Click here to Vote!

Dwayne Ingraham nominated for Food&Wine’s People’s Best New Pastry Chef

FOOD & WINE’s The People’s Best New Pastry Chef, selected by readers in an online poll
and presented by Godiva. Until February 14th at midnight, readers can visit foodandwine.com/the-peoples-pastry to select their favorite up-and-coming pastry chef from a list of 50 nominees in three regions: East, West and Central.  To join the conversation and promote your favorite pastry chef on Twitter use #peoplespastry.

“There is so much innovation in the pastry world right now, and we are excited to have the chance to celebrate it,” says FOOD & WINE Editor in Chief Dana Cowin. “Our new pastry awards allow us to spotlight cooking pros who don’t generally get the same recognition as the executive chefs for whom they work.”

FOOD & WINE editors determined the 50 The People’s Best New Pastry Chef nominees with help from their national network of journalists, chefs and other trusted sources. Only professionals who have run a restaurant pastry kitchen for five years or fewer are eligible. There will be one finalist from each of the three regions; the person with the most votes will be named The People’s Best New Pastry Chef.

The finalists and the winner of The People’s Best New Pastry Chef award will be announced on foodandwine.com on February 15th. The winner will be profiled in the “Hungry Crowd” column of the May issue of FOOD & WINE, on newsstands April 13, and will attend the 30th anniversary of the FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen, June 15-17, 2012 where they will share their treats as co-host of Godiva’s activation in the FOOD & WINE Grand Tasting Pavilion.

FOOD & WINE editors have also begun their search for America’s Best New Pastry Chefs, to be announced in the May issue. Winners will be revealed along with The People’s Best New Pastry Chefs on February 15th.

    Good Luck Dwayne!

    Bouré Grand Opening Friday, 11/18!

The much anticipated opening of the new Bouré will be Friday, 11/18!  Just in time for LSU weekend!  Owners John Currence & Stefano Capomazza purchased the historic Downtown Grill building last April, and have been working tirelessly to give Bouré a new look and more importantly a new home.  The styling for Bouré was an incredible collaborative effort between Currence, Capomazza & the team at Ai3, an architectural firm based in Atlanta, GA.

Esthetically speaking, Bouré is a completely new restaurant, but don’t you worry…the menu remains the same!  We may have a few surprises up our sleeve in months to come with new menu items, but a note to our loyal clientele… you can still come by and get your favorite Bouré Burger or Shrimp & Grits!  We can’t wait for you to see our new digs!
